May 14, 2013 Vilnius – United Nations Development Programme (UNDP) in Lithuania today convened its final conference with the aim to share the experiences and lessons learned in cooperation with Lithuania since 2006. It focused on partnerships in three important sectors: social integration of vulnerable groups, Corporate Social Responsibility and potential for regional cooperation and youth employment. The conference was attended by a large number of UNDP partners in Lithuania, representatives from state institutions and international participants interested in Lithuania’s development experience from Belarus, Bulgaria, the Former Yugoslav Republic of Macedonia, Montenegro, Poland and Slovakia. The conference was opened by the UN Assistant Secretary-General, UNDP Assistant Administrator and Regional Director for Europe and the CIS, Ms. Cihan Sultanoglu and the Minister of Social Security and Labor of the Republic of Lithuania, Ms. Algimanta Pabedinskiene.

On 14 May 2013, United Nations Development Programme (UNDP) in Lithuania launches Regional Conference „Promoting Social Innovations through new partnerships“, in cooperation national and international partners. The Conference is based on the experience of UNDP work in Lithuania for the past six years under a new partnership modality.

Ms. Lyra Jakuleviciene, the Head of UNDP Lithuania has met today with H.E. Algirdas Butkevičius, the Prime Minister of the Republic of Lithuania. Disscussions during the meeting focused on possibilities for enhancing Lithuania‘s role in the region through the transfer of country‘s experience to countries facing similar socio-economic challenges; multilateral cooperation mechanisms and possibilities for CSR promotion in Lithuanian public and business sectors through the newly established Network of CSR Practitioners.
